This speedometer has a sensor that you screw onto the original speedometer cable which is then measured and recalibrated to then display on the analog looking speedometer. There is a servo inside that moves the speedometer needle. The purpose is to recalibrate the speed for non-stock tire size.
This is a used like new unit that I used for a thousand miles on a car that I just sold. The buyer didn't want to pay for this high end calibrated speedometer so you get a deal. I only have one so get it while you can.

The VW Type 1 115mm digital speedometer reads from 0-120 MPH and has a black dial and black bezel. The speedometer is made in the UK by Smiths and has mounts for a direct installation into the stock dashboard of 1954 through 1977 Standard Beetles, 1971 through 1972 Super Beetles and 1973 through 1974 Things. The Smiths Speedometer has an odometer/trip readout and features a turn signal, high beam, oil pressure and charging indicator/warning lights. The electronic speedometer has "Drive-to-set" programming.
